Privacy of Clinical Trial Data
Sharing of patient level data is vital for the greater transparency of a clinical trial. By sharing the clinical trial data with researchers for secondary research, the value of patient level clinical trial data is maximized for the benefit of future patients and society. This has caused an upsurge of an issue of privacy of clinical data and sharing of clinical data with third party researchers while maintaining the patient confidentiality. Therefore, it is essential that this benefit is balanced with the risk to privacy of the clinical data. Thus a process step to protect patient data privacy is an essential prerequisite for data sharing in order to adequately safeguard the privacy of patients participating in clinical trials, whilst making data available for further research.
In most of the clinical trials conducted by RemediumOne in Sri Lanka, at the time of patient recruitment, necessary steps are taken to ensure privacy of clinical trial data of the participants and also to improve the transparency of the clinical trial data.
