
Corona infection readiness at RemediumOne
The new coronavirus, designated 2019-nCoV, was first identified in Wuhan the capital of China’s Hubei province, on 31st December 2019 after people developed pneumonia without a clear cause and for which existing vaccines or treatments were not effective. On 7th Jan 2020, it was diagnosed as “Novel Corona Virus” with incubation period is reported as 2-10 days. The virus has shown evidence of human-to-human transmission, and its transmission rate appeared to escalate in mid-January 2020, with several countries across Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific reporting cases
First confirmed case of Coronavirus infected person was reported from Sri Lanka on 27th January 2020. The patient was a Chinese national who came to Sri Lanka as a tourist 2 weeks ago. Sri Lankan health authorities have obtained several special measures to prevent a coronavirus outbreak. A National Action committee has been established with 22 members in preventing spread of new corona virus. Separate exit terminals, On arrival health declaration form and thermal scanners have been established in Bandaranayke International Airport. Also, Sri Lankan government has temporarily cancelled on arrival visa for tourists from china with immediate effect.
Twelve hospitals around the country including National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) have been identified as the treatment centers for the suspected persons. (TH Ragama, DGH Gampaha, DGH Negombo, National Hospital Kandy, TH Karapitiya, TH Anuradhapura, TH Jaffna, TH Kurunegala, PGH Rathnapura, TH Batticaloa, PGH Badulla).
The Ministry of Health has launched a special program to check Chinese nationals employed in large scale projects and returning Sri Lankan students (also those who visited China due to other purposes during last 14 days) who were in China are advised to stay in their homes with minimal contacts with others for a period of 2 weeks from the day of arrival to Sri Lanka.The General public is advised take preventive modalities in minimalizing the spread of new corona virus.
RemediumOne has also taken security measures to protect our site staff who work in operational level in the hospitals. N95 face masks and sanitizers were distributed among the site staff to be worn while coordinating clinical trials with participants
